FREE College Exploration Course in Pullman

  • Neill Public Library 210 N Grand Ave Pullman, WA 99163 United States (map)

Palouse Pathways has been offering its FREE College Exploration Course for a more than a dozen years, inspiring high school students on the Palouse to explore college options, and taking the uncertainty and anxiety out of the college admissions process.  We believe that the best colleges are the ones where you will thrive; we’ll show you how to find them.

In this two hour course students will learn to:

  • Identify the personal qualities, interests and goals that will play a role in their college choice

  • Explore how different college features (size, location, majors, access to financial aid) can help them thrive.

  • Create a list of the most important things they hope to find in a college

  • Find a range of schools that can meet their needs.

This event is FREE and open to students in grades 10-11. Parents are also welcome. Students do not have to be a part of Palouse Pathways Scholars to attend but it’s a great way to learn more about the Scholars Program!

Palouse Pathways founder Peggy Jenkins will be returning to the Palouse to offer her signature College Exploration Course, alongside new staff and program volunteers. She is excited to provide the tools for exploration to a new group of students.

Former Deary and Moscow resident Jenkins has a certificate in College Admissions Counseling from UCLA Extension and was recently awarded the Equity Access and Success Award for her work with Palouse Pathways from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling.

She now resides in Santa Fe, NM.

See what students say about the course:

I’m really appreciative of how I approached the college application process. I feel like I used it as a tool for reflection of what I really wanted and who I was and how that fit it at different places. . . . Shoutout to Peggy Jenkins to being an awesome guide through that process for me. I feel grounded in who I am, what I want to strive for, and how [my college] can help me navigate all that.

This was one of the most valuable events I have attended through Palouse Pathways. I learned about a variety of college searching tools I didn’t know existed. I felt more confident to go deeper into finding a college that will fit me best.
