Path to College

Palouse Pathways’ FREE Path to College Presentations are designed for Ninth Grade Families (and Tenth Grade families who missed last year's presentations). The presentations offer tools and information you need to get ready, plus some fun and inspiration to get students engaged and enthused about college possibilities. You'll take home a timeline and other great resources.

The presentation is for YOU if any of these apply:

  1. Your student might like to go to  a selective college some day.

  2. You are very concerned about how you can afford college.

  3. Your student would be the first in your family to attend college and/or you are unsure about what you need to do to get ready.

  4. You like to plan ahead.

  5. Your student is excited about the prospect of college.

We encourage families to attend together, but students or parents are welcome to come on their own if that’s not possible.

We’ll have a drawing for a $50 WinCo Gift Certificate!

Space for these events is limited, so please reserve yours now.

  • October 24, 6- 7:30 pm @ Pullman High School

Hope to see you and your family there!

Free College Knowledge Workshop

  • University of Idaho College of Law (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Palouse Pathways is hosting an event for parents and others in community who want to help students thinking about college. We’re calling it the College Knowledge Workshop. It will take place on October 6 from 9:30 – 2 pm at the University of Idaho School of Law.

We’re bringing in a nationally recognized speaker, Arun Ponussamy, Chief Academic Officer of the International College Advising Firm Collegewise. www.collegewise.com

Arun is preparing a workshop designed especially for Palouse Pathways. Topics will include Helping Students Consider Alternatives and Build a Smart College List; Guiding Students through the Mechanics of the Admissions Process; and The Power of You: What Admissions Officers Look for in Applications.

The morning presentations are geared for adults only, the lunch talk will be great and inspiring for parents and kids (and we are considering some alternative programming teens can do during the workshop).

The event is free and lunch will be provided (donations to defray our costs are welcome).

We are inviting people with children nearing college age and people who would like to serve as community resources and mentors for high school students. Professionals currently working with high schoolers would also benefit.

If you would be interested in attending or knowing more, please let us know by email at palousepathways@gmail.com or by calling or texting 208 301-5099. If you know of others who would like to join us, please feel free to forward this email and have them respond to use directly.

Explore Majors and Careers & Tour University of Idaho

Erin Doty is an Enrollment and Advising Coordinator at University of Idaho's College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences, where she counsels undergraduates on choosing majors.  She thinks deciding what to study shouldn't cause stress, it should provide an opportunity for students to explore their interests and strengths and all the possible directions their college degrees can take them.  Palouse Pathways is partnering with Erin to offer a major exploration workshop for tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders.  The workshop will take place at University of Idaho on October 5 (a no-school day for many Idaho students).  It will be followed by lunch with current students and a campus tour.  Space is limited so email Palouse Pathways to reserve your spot or for more information.  MAJORS WORKSHOP, LUNCH AND TOUR OCT. 5, 10-1:30 pm University of Idaho
